I read Kurt Dahlke's DVD review of The Possession of Joel Delaney at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=33682 and...hey, Kurt, did you know that William Peter Blatty based the mother in "The Exorcist" (played by Ellen Burstyn) on MacLaine? Blatty is godfather to MacLaine's daughter. I heard scuttlebutt at the time (MacLaine is an old friend of my late Uncle's) that the reason she did this (and quickly, evidently) is because she wasn't even considered for the film version of "The Exorcist."

That info is in my data banks somewhere ... but I think some sectors need to be scanned for disk damage. That's pretty funny about MacLaine's reason for taking the role in Delaney, however ... art imitates art imitating life, I suppose!
