DVD Talk review of 'Hustle and Flow'
I read Matthew Hinkley's DVD review of Hustle and Flow at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=28711 and...
Greetings Matthew, and thank you for the review! If you would compare the image quality of 'Hustle & Flow' to 'The Worlds Fastest Indian', would you call them simlar (detail, color and grain wise)? I was about to purchase it because I love the movie but was a bit hesitant after reading your review, but then again I was not expecting to much knowing that it was shot in Super 16 and then blown up!
'Indian' is about as low as I will go in video quality for a BD purchase, if you tell me that it isn't worse than 'Indian' (which was very grainy) then it is a go for me!

No, I wouldn't say that it is as "bad" as World's Fastest Indian. It is different...Hustle and Flow definitely had grain present throughout, but almost "felt" like it was supposed to be there at times. It just annoyed me being there all the time, and the feel just wasn't right. But World's Fastest Indian is just not so good...some scenes were just terrible. I would have still purchased Hustle and Flow...this is why I gave it such a high rating...sure the video isn't perfect but that definitely doesn't hold me back from this film.

Thanks for the response, I have just ordered it!
This movie is absolutely supposed to be dirty, grainy and gritty, just to give the viewer the feel of Memphis! I can't imagine another reason why it was shot with Super 16 other than to give the movie that gritty feeling to it (besides the economy factor)?
