DVD Talk review of 'The Thomas Mann Collection'
I read Paul Mavis's DVD review of The Thomas Mann Collection at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=28074 and...
I think you do this set justice in the review. These are films I never thought I would ever see in any form. In fact, I was beginning to wonder if I had just imagined the existence of DOKTOR FAUSTUS. You're right they are very good, but the video transfer is problematic, if watchable. I have not yet watched BUDDENBROOKS, and your comments really make me look forward to it.

Thanks, Mackjay! Doktor Faustus really comes across because of Finch's portrayal. And I think you'll enjoy Buddenbrooks -- but make sure you pack a lunch.
It's too bad the transfers were so crappy, but the rarity of the films makes them more than worthwhile viewing.
Thanks again for the kind words!
