DVD Talk review of 'They All Laughed'
I read Jamie S. Rich's DVD review of They All Laughed at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=24597 and...but must say I just loved this movie unreservedly. The best thing about it is the uniqueness of its narrative, pacing, cuts and dialogue. It has the one thing I treasure above all in movies: relaxed naturalness; the kind one can often find in off-beat independent romances like Kicking and Screamin (Baubaugh's), Lovely and Amazing and my favorite Love Life. I have to applaud rich for digging the Gazarra-Hepburn pairing but just cannot understand why he couldn't enjoy the rest of it. For me, it was like the entire cast got caught up in the Hep-Gazzara aura. And now, with Ritter also gone before his time, the pairing with Stratten seems even more inspired. Why wouldn't a beautiful bimbo like Startten fall for a Ritter's 'doofus'? Look who she fell for in real life. This is a priceless movie; a lovely confection, even if it does have a few silly moments. Ritter is always more than a clown.
