DVD Talk review of 'Superman Returns'
I read Joshua Zyber's DVD review of Superman Returns at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=25872 and...
Josh Z's review is the perfect secular left response to how the Superman character is presented in Superman Returns. Superman is not cynical and has faith in the soul of humanity. A darker tortured character like Batman, who targets his limited assistance like targeted tax cuts and stops short of killing even if it prevents the future death of innocents or makes a lasting impact, is far more palatable to the left and what their idea of a hero is. I thought Bryan Singer's presentation of a character with more than human but less than divine capabilities was far more challenging and interesting than just the latest attempt at making Batman a little grittier. I found Superman Returns to be some of the freshest spin the super hero paradigm has seen in decades. Pondering the plight of a being that is faced with having to choose who to save and who not to on a global scale is much more intriguing to me than the pathos of a rich orphan who beats up overmatched thugs. I am very excited about the relaunched Superman franchise. I expect the future films to be much more than just the tired "new actor-new suit-new batmobile-new love interest-new villain" formula of the Batman franchise.

From: Right now, my location is DVDTalk, but then again, you should already know that, shouldn't you?
I'm about as tree-hugging, Bush-hating, repelled by theism liberal as you get, and I love SUPERMAN RETURNS so, pray tell, what the hell are you blathering on about?

<Smiley or not, I'm not sure what purpose a post like this is supposed to serve.>
Amusement. What purpose was your comment about my comment supposed to serve?
Anywho, my serious comments are in my original response to the review and I am much more interested in discussing Superman Returns vs Batman Begins.

Yeah. It probably makes the most sense to just close this thread. Sorry for not having done that earlier.
