I would highly recommend any Eddie Izzard DVD. Dress to Kill (1999), as tasha99 mentioned, is really good, but Sexie (2003), Circle (2002), Glorious (1997), Definite Article (1996), Unrepeatable (1994) and Live at the Ambassadors (1993) are really no worse.
As an introduction, I wouldn't really start with Live at.., but anything else works really well. Note, however, that his later shows have touched more and more political and global issues, and so if you are not into that sort of a thing (although those issues are far from being the only thing he talks about even in his later shows), I would probably start off with the earlier stuff (say, up until Dress to Kill).
What I usually introduce to people first is Definite Article or Unrepeatable, and no one with a sense of humour has yet been disappointed.

High agreement with the Eddie Izzard & Sarah Silverman recommendations. I'd also throw in the Jerry Seinfeld: I'm Telling You For the Last Time show. It's his standard material, but I thought it was a great presentation and send off. I think you can find it awfully cheap too, I grabbed mine from the Walmart bargain bin.

wow, you have "for what its worth" but don't have Killing them softly" from dave chappelle?
Also some George Carlin wouldn't hurt ya (Jammin in New York and Carlin at Carnagie are his best imo.

And although it's a documentary about stand-up (it has a lot of stand-up in it), COMEDIAN.

Eddie Izzard: Dressed To Kill, Comedian (not really a traditional stand-up dvd, but the commentary w/Jerry Seinfeld and Colin Quinn is worth the price of the disc alone), and my new favorite Gary Gulman: Boyish Man
