DVD Talk review of 'Mission: Impossible III (2-Disc Collector's Edition)'
I read Preston Jones's DVD review of Mission: Impossible III (2-Disc Collector's Edition) at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=24527 and, I must disagree with the quality of the video. I have not seen so many compression artifacts in an anamorphic transfer since the days of the early letterboxed DVD's. There are many very disturbing Moire or rainbow artifacts all over the Vatican walls and stairs. shimmering artifacts in all the cars, and even in Tom Cruises' hair. This is visible in my computer HD monitor as well as in my Hd projector with all the filters and processors on board. This is the W ORST DVD transfer I have seen in a ,long time. W as this mastered from a BLUE RAY master perhaps?. I am looking forward to my HD DVD copy, and I hope these arftifacts are not in that master too.

The Vatican is indeed distracting, but is pretty fleeting and when taken into account with the rest of the film, a minor blemish. My equipment is just a CRT HDTV and progressive scan DVD player, so to my eyes, I thought it looked pretty solid.
