The Haunting is the best haunted house movie ever made, followed closely by The Innocents. The Changeling is also excellent. And I really liked The Legend Of Hell House. If you're region-free, pick up Ghostwatch from the UK. If you can find a copy, get The Woman In Black which has been OOP for a while. The Others and The Devil's Backbone are two recent haunted house flicks that were good. If you want a horror/comedy check out House and The Frighteners.

House on Haunted Hill and its remake are both moody haunted house films.

Not as good as some of the classics mentioned here, but I always get a kick out of Fulci's "House by the Cemetery".

Well I just orderd (1) The Changeling (2) The Haunting (3) The Legend of Hell House and one from that horror master----- Woody Allen in Manhattan. Also may go back and add Lets Scare Jessica to Death. I'm loading up for the October horror challenge! minus the Woody Allen that is.
