IMHO, V For Vendetta is a great blind buy. Just go in with the realization that despite the commercials and trailers making this look like an action film, there's not much action. It's a political movie, one to make you stop and think about what can happen when a government gets too much power by playing on the fears of its people.

I actually came in to find out views on V, though I have to say, I greatly dislike The Princess Bride. Hatred is a strong word, but its just not for me. I also do not like the Monty Python movies - The Princess Bride was kinda similar, with the randomness.

There are people who don't like The Princess Bride? I was happier not knowing such a horrible thing.
I got V for Vendetta blind and I really enjoyed it. I don't know a thing about the graphic novel, but I thought the movie was very well done on all fronts. I do agree that the trailer is not very indicative of the movie. It's not really an action movie or anything like The Matrix so don't go in expecting that or you will get burned. It is more of a political piece, but, unlike most I have seen lately, it does tell a compelling story as well. I am really glad I picked this one up.
