DVD Talk review of 'Casualties of War - Extended Edition'
I read Phil Bacharach's DVD review of Casualties of War - Extended Edition at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=21359 and...i'm just wondering how a dvd with a 3 star movie and extra rating gets a "highly recommended"? i mean you seem to like it, but that it is a pretty generic war movie. it doesn't seem worthy with only 3 stars...

Scott - I guess my rationale for the Highly Recommended is that I consider the replay ranking the most important factor on whether a DVD is worth purchasing. While there is no uniform calibration for the star rankings, I personally consider three stars for replay a pretty high rating. There are a lot of movies I love, but for whatever reason -- lame bonus features or the like -- aren't worth much of a second look once you buy 'em. For me, Casualties of War does rise above a standard war flick.

i'm just saying with even 3 stars for replay and compared to most reviews, it seems to barely warrant a "Recommended", but i guess reviews aren't uniform. no biggie.
