Is 'Invasion Earth' any good?

The miniseries Invasion Earth is out on DVD. Is it any good?

Hmmm... I've never even heard of this, and there seems to be very little info out there, even on IMDb.

Did this even air in the States, or just on BBC1?

The U.S. Sci-Fi Channel showed it a while back. 3-4 years ago maybe?

I did watch it, but I don't remember much about it. It was OK, but nothing to get excited about. I don't recommend it as a blind DVD purchase. But if you're a diehard British sci-fi fan, it's worth a rental.

This is one I was kinda interested in as well -- would be blind buy -- especially for around $17 its not bad price if I don't like it.

Does anyone remember if it actually came to a conclusion or was left hanging for the "supposed" next installment ? I would not like to get it and wonder where is the ending, though - blind buy as it is.

Also being BBC, how does it compare to Doctor Who - as campy or what ?

Thanks.

DVDTalk has a review of the show (blatant plug):

It's not at all like Dr. Who. As where Who is low budget but fun, this had a high budget and took itself very seriously. The ending will piss off a lot of people, as it does wrap up a lot of plots, but it doesn't tell you what happens in the end.

I wouldn't get it as a blind buy.
