DVD Talk review of 'The Adventurers'
I read Scott Weinberg's DVD review of The Adventurers at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=16859 and...his justified sense of outrage towards the vulgarity of 'The Adventurers' notwithstanding, it would seem pointless to respond quite so vehemently regarding a movie in which apparently the director, actors or studio made no pretense whatsoever to have taken seriously.
There is, perhaps, an understandable sense of aesthetic embarrassment on the part of the reviewer. This is as much pulp as were other such contemporary trashy movies as 'The Oscar', 'The Carpetbaggers', 'Valley of the Dolls', 'All the Fine Young Cannibals',
'Candy', 'The Magic Christian', etc., any of which, given an awareness of their undisguised lack of pretense, I would not mind seeing again and even collecting.
