The Reivers ... any reviews?

I haven't seen any by going through www.dvd-basen.dk, which usually links to a number of the review sites, including DVDTalk. This was released on 6/14/2005 ... was this such a low profile release that no one has noticed it?

I've seen the movie, years ago, and remember it as being very good. Paramount has been doing a good job with their catalog releases, so the quality is probably just fine. I'd still like to see a review.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the review. I just ordered it at the DDD 20% off sale. At $7.48, it's a bargain. My memories of this one are coming back ... I've only seen it on TV, so it will be great to see it in its OAR. I also may be fond of it because it's sourced from the only Faulkner book that I halfway understood

This is a fantastic movie...a favorite for both my wife and me! Splendid cast; evocative sets, costumes, music, and photography; wonderful script & dialogue.
First saw this as a teen and loved it then as now. The horse racing scenes are some of the most stirring ever filmed (great choices of shots from editor/director), and lots of memorable scenes...loved Will Geer's Grandfather ("Boss") and his understanding of the young narrator. This is not merely a Steve McQueen vehicle (although he performs admirably and made a courageous choice to do this picture at the peak of his career)...it is a wonderful movie, period. Read the review on DVDTalk...totally agree with the reviewer's conclusions. BTW...if you grab it before the DDD 20% sale ends today (Saturday), you can have it for a little over $7. Highly recommended.
