DVD Talk review of 'The Duchess and the Dirtwater Fox'
I read Scott Weinberg's DVD review of The Duchess and the Dirtwater Fox at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=15856 and...
...I saw this movie a year or two ago after seeking it out forever. I have this weird George Segal thing that I can't explain. Anyway, I can't recall a SINGLE THING about this film at all. I know that I gave it 1.5 stars because I'm looking back at my ratings, but I have absolutely no idea why.
A purchase is in order.

The Hollywood Foreign Press must have really had a thing for Goldie Hawn in the 70's. I was just checking at IMDb, and realized that this movie got her one of the 5 Best Actress Golden Globe nominations she'd get during that decade.

Women who play whores on screen get awards. It's science.

First of all, with regards to Mr. Weinbergs's spot on review, OUCH!!!
Oddly enough, I happened to record this film yesterday morning on AMC. Saw it back in the day, with my mother, when I was like nine. I have a weird George Segal thing too. I take pleasure in turning on people to films like A Touch Of Class; Fun With Dick and Jane; things like that.
The memory of Duchess outweighed the present-day sojourn. It indeed felt rushed; make-up (lots of sweaty shine); photography; shoddy set pieces; Segal telling Hawn to "shut-up" every ten minutes; "whore"!?! Only thing I remembered from my 70s experience with it, which sadly made me laugh even yesterday, was the horse Blackjack and how he continuely appeared throughout the film...even after being shot!
