Hogan's Heroes Rip-Off
Hello. Just trying to pass the word regarding the "complete" first season of Hogan's Heroes released recently by Paramount.
The first (pilot) episode has an entire scene hacked out. The scene comes after Hogan shows the informer planted by the Germans the entire underground tunnel set-up. Hogan radios a submarine with some instructions, then tells Kinchloe to "Call Sydney Carter". We are supposed to see Hogan's message for Sydney to come back to camp. "It is a far, far better thing that you do then you have ever done before", Hogan tells this to Sydney, over the radio, as Sydney is making out with some girl. Cut back to Hogan looking embarassed by his corny code. This whole scene is gone. It was included in the Columbia House VHS and DVD versions annd even T.V. land didn't hack it out. Paramount has.
So for 37 bucks, I get a hacked up version of Hogan's Heroes? I replaced it once at the effort and expense of my local DVD/music store and both have the scene missing. Why? Hogan's Heroes may not be your cup of tea, but if this goes unchecked, how many other episodes of how many different series will/or are turning up edited? I'm trying to spread the word and get a recall going. They already have a hotline# to adress the mislabeling of discs #1 and #2! What a mess. On grounds of false advertising alone, Paramount owes EVERYONE who bought this fraudulent product either a full refund or at least a disc with the COMPLETE version of this episode. Buyer Beware!
