Van Helsing is absolutely diabolical
Just saw it last night, what a waste of time...ranks up there with "Dirty Work" and "Torque", which are in my All-Time Worst Movies list .

Yea...saw it in the theater and wasn't all that impressed. Now Dirty Work on the other hand is a cinematic achievement to say the least. Any movie with dead whores, especially in the trunk, is a winner!!!

Either you have only seen one movie in your life or the second half has to be a blank dvd.
I have watched the first half of the movie so far and love it. So far so good as a blind buy purchase.

Horrible, awful waste of time. The CG looked like shit, and although the idea was cool, the script seems like it was written by a handicapped twelve year old....The guy who played dracula was such a horrible overactor that i didn't even bother to remember his name...

Richard Roxburgh-that's who played Dracula. Personally, I wasn't going to buy it. I had a crap load of quarters and dimes, so I got cash, and well, I caved in. I think, for some reason (proabably b/c of Sommers), this has been unfairly bashed. Now, I'm not saying it's high art or Oscar level stuff, but it has its moments of a fun "something -to-watch-while-it rains/snows-out" material. I graded it as a "C"; it had some bad ideas, some okay ones, it was way too long, and it needed some better dialogue. But hey, it a fun time-waster, if though they had a sucky Drac, a whiney Frankenstein, but atleast the Werewolves were cool and Kate in smokin' hot.
The CGI has two-fold here. On one hand, it was cartoony (but not Mummy Returns bad)-the Dracula bat thing at the end is an example as is the burnt face of one of his brides while fighting Kate. But I thought the werewolves were really well done, considering most werewolf movies are usually obscured or too dog like.
Oh well, I'm not trying to win over anyone. For all the hatred here, I would have saved it for somethin like Taking Lives, or Punisher, or Catwoman (which I gave a D-, for anyone who wants to know how to NOT make a film, let alone a superhero one).

I bought the movie as a blind buy and loved it. I don't know what all the bad mouthing of this movie is all about. If you liked The Mummy and Mummy Returns you will like Van Helsing.

Nah, it's almost as bad as GARFIELD.
I'm a big fan of the old Universal Monster films, and I was really looking forward to this. But I was very disappointed with VAN HELSING. It's big, empty, mindless fluff. It looks awful pretty, sure, but that's it. Long, overdone "action" scenes, and no real story for them to stick to. A real missed opportunity.
