Goodfellas SE - Quick Review

I haven't seen the film since it's theatrical release so watching it last night was really a pleasure.

Overall, I'm borderline satisfied with the new release however, I thought the video would have been more cleaned-up (i.e.: Chapter 40, 5min, 6 sec. - major dirt particles). Were they present in the flipper release?

The rest of the video was fairly clean. As I didn't see the original release, I don't know if they improved the audio. This type of film didn't warrant a stellar audio track anyway.

I really enjoyed the commentary Henry Hill provided.

BTW - the least of my worries.....No insert

Jesus, this long and no insert??? That's what pisses me off about these long delays; all hype and no reward...............but, how were the extras??? While I don't really care for extras, I'm hoping the delay was for at least one good reason, but then again, just being able to watch the whole movie through without having to "flip" the disc is a bonus..........I guess.

My biggest dissapointment in a delayed release to date is the Pulp Fiction collectors edition.

Only if you want commentary tracks, documentaries and lots of other stuff, including a non-flipper disc.

Worth buying it just to use your old flipper as a drink coaster.

If you want better picture quality and most importantly, the movie on a one-sided disc, then you'll definiitely want to buy the SE.

You know what the movie is, this isn't a "blind buy" for you.

This blind buy threads are so out of hand.

If you like the movie enough to want the extras buy the thing. Do you really need the opinions of strangers that much for this.

Isn't the most important feature that this version is anamorphic?

I don't see any reason for you to apologize...this forum is full of people asking opinions of strangers, and there isn't anything wrong with that.

I think it's worth it to get the SE. Better picture and some cool extras, and not having to get up and flip the disc in the middle of the movie (if you have a disc changer), is enough reason for me to upgrade.

I'm upgrading from my current version. If you love the movie, and feel the new extras are worth the money, than why not?

Enjoy!

You get some special features, it's anamorphic, and a non-flipper. I think it's safe to say GET IT!

This is defintely not the forum to discuss blind buys as I thought a mod would have informed. This most assuredly belongs in 'reviews and recommendations'.

haven't watched it yet and prob won't for a little while. i wish i could tell you. i still like to hear the experts opinions, especially DVD Talk's..they just seem so knowledgeable. Plus, how do you have a mini-review that has specific chapter stops on 8/7 and not have the full up by now?
Weird

goodfellas is a must for any dvd collection i have been holding out on buying it for the longest time because I borrowed my cousins and I hated having to flip it over plus I don't think the quality was that good on it and I knew sooner or later a new version of it would come out
