one down-one to go--->casino ES

and after that.... Heat SE (which technically isn't really 'mafia' related but I think most people would place it in the same genre category, right?)
mmm...Casino...*drool* |
I've got the whole Scorsese boxed set here. Came from Amazon today. Got my review copy of Mean Streets yesterday. Review is up here in case you're interested. Can't have Goodfellas without Mean Streets.

Does this make you happy? Then why dont I see you smiling? |

I really enjoyed Bugsy and have it as part of my dvd collection. Very entertaining story, and from a different point of view you have Mobsters with Patrick Dempsey. Not as serious of a gangster flick but interesting.

Are we ever going to get DVD Talk's review?
|
DVD Savant is reviewing it, so look for an excellent piece of writing when he's done with it.
Frankly, if I had more time I'd bust out my own review to go with the Mean Streets review. Maybe this weekend. |
Just noticed a black line running right down the middle of the frame in one shot. One minute into Ch 27, it's just a five-second shot of Deniro. Nothing big, but a little annoying.

I picked up Goodfellas SE at Best Buy today for under $10! Thank gawd for the bonus coupons. :)

Gil,
Nice review. How come not 'DVD Talk Collector's Edition'? Just wondering... |

If I had to guess it would be based on Savant's hesitations about the film's content; he seems to acknowledge that the film is a masterpiece but is a bit uneasy with how grim it makes the state of human morality out to be. Me, I think it's a masterpiece for that exact same reason. Hmmm... maybe I will write another review (although I've got the new Mary-Kate and Ashley DVD waiting to be reviewed too...) ;) (is there such a thing as a smiliy that winks and cries at the same time?) |
My bad...I guess by you posting the link it gives the impression that you also wrote the review. Seems a little deceptive, but hey I am not Savant so I cannot complain too much of say stealing thunder, getting the glory, reaping the rewards... <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_1_107v.gif' alt='Teethy' border=0></a>
so hey DVD Savant, how come no '...Collector's Edition' rating? |
This is me from a little earlier in the thread:

Gil,
This is me from now...I saw that, but being that "Goodfellas" was taking so long (no offense Savant), I thought it may have changed viewing hands!! <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_1_7v.gif' alt='Cool' border=0></a> |
