Predator CE - it's all in the extras
We've seen the audio and video before, but you haven't taken a walk down Predator lore lane until you've seen the original creature design in action.

"If you own the second release of Predator with DTS audio and an anamorphic transfer, and you don’t care about extras, there’s nothing new for you in this release that you have to see other than the hilarious original version of the Predator."
Well, that says it all for me.

I had this on preorder, but will cancel now. The main reason is if they aren't gonna bother to fix the current transfer (which looks like shit by the way) I'm not gonna bother upgrading to the 2 disc set. Thanks for nothing FOX!!!

Hmmm...would've picked this up for a new transfer. Guess I'm not now. The only extra that I would like to see is the Old Painless (I orignally saw this when I was 15 and I was like "Holy crap, is that gun real!?!") segment, but I doubt it's worth $20

The link was removed because, I assume, the original post was blatantly self-promotional.

Predator is presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen. This appears to be the same transfer from the previous edition, but no worries there, as the movie looks terrific.

I already sold my DTS copy and was willing to double dip primarily for the expected new transfer. The old transfer looks terrible, so I am disappointed they left it the same. I will still probably get it from Columbia House and hope my copy at least has the free ticket to AvP.

CE
I got the CE last week, cause my hollywood video had it out for some reason, and while I havent seen the original dvd transfer this one isnt bad. I wouldnt say it was great though. THe commentary track and the text commentary track are quite good. The featurettes are quite short some amusing some pretty lame, its always nice to see Jessie Ventura saying stuff about guns and stuff. The 30 minute doc is good, with footage of the original predator. The "red suit" predator footage is interesting too. I would buy this relase just cause it has a good commentary and some nice extras.

Yep, going to keep my DTS barebones release as well. It's tempting to get the new release because of the extras, but I know I will just watch them once and forget about it. Too bad about the transfer! You'd think they would clean it up a bit.
