American Splendor - Good Blind Buy?

Going to pick up Lost In Translation tomorrow and was hoping to chose between either American Splendor or The Office Series 1 (BBC Show) to go along with it.

Can only get 2 so I have to chose between American Splendor and The Office. I saw 2 episodes on a preview for BBC Canada of The Office and it was pretty damn funny.

I've only seen the trailer for American Splendor but it looks very good as well. Only comparisons I've heard are to movies like Ghost World which I own and really enjoy.

Would I be safe to just pick up American Splendor or should I go with The Office and rent Splendor first and maybe get it later if I enjoy it?

You can't go wrong either way, really. American Splendor is a great great GREAT movie that combines comic-book influences, documentary aspects and great acting from all the leads.

But also, the Office is so damn funny and is TRUE and feels like a parody all at the same time.

Flip a coin would be about your best bet here. Sorry I wasn't much help, though.

I think if you like "Ghost World," you will like "American Splendor." They have quite a bit in common. Here's my take on "Splendor"...

Well I may end up flipping a coin but after reading the review I think I may go with Splendor. Seems like my type of movie and something I would watch a lot.

I can always get The Office at a later date but hopefully sooner because the character Ricky Gervaise plays is hilarious.

Thanks for the input.

If you like Ghost World I'd definitely pick Splendor up, they both have a kind of similar "vibe" although the stories are quite different.
