I'm still watching the rest of the episodes and a review will be forthcoming. I didn't see most of the episodes when it first came out and I'm making sure I see everything it has to offer before I write it up. (3 untelevised episodes, some solid extras, great commentaries, lots of them too, it looks like a winner)

Great show, great DVDs; damn shame they cancelled it.

Halfway through the set now. The show plays better on DVD than it did on television, but I still have mixed feelings about it. There are interesting ideas in it, but on the whole it really didn't deserve to last any longer than it did.

Glad you liked the snow. However, with all due respect, I find your assessment about modern genre television humor to be inaccurate. Shows like Farscape, The Invisible Man, Buffy (which you relatively dismissed from the smart category), Angel and even Babylon 5 come strong with the same level of intellectual humor you expect from a Joss or Sorkin. Still, in those first few episodes, Firefly had me crying with laughter more than a couple of times.
How's the a/v quality of the gag reel? The gag with Nathan during Woodward's speech gets me every time I see it. I'm hoping for a better quality copy than the one I have.
Thanks for the review. I'm glad the show has found another fan. Hopefully this DVD release will find countless more and show Fox once again just how far up their asses their heads have been recently.

The quality of the gag reel is decent, if not as good as the episodes themselves. Anyone that would like to discuss plot spoilers or other aspects of the review can email me: I didn't want to include anything that'd spoil the fun for anyone. If anyone sees any errors, email me and I'll fix them.
