Van Wilder 2-DVD Unrated for $8 -- Worth it?
I saw parts of this one and enjoyed it a little bit. But for $8 shipped at DDD it's hard to pass up.
How are the extras? Was the movie THAT funny? I don't really remember

While tastes certainly differ, I found it incredibly funny and have watched it quite a few times with friends since then. If you're on the fence about it, $8 really isn't too much of an investment.

At that price, go ahead. You could afford to give it away if you don't like it.
I haven't seen it, but I know some people think it's tepid, wretched crap, while some people think it's hilarious, putting it in the library with Animal House and American Pie.

I would say yes. If you liked Van Wilder you might also want to check out Not Another Teen Movie--I just picked it up for $12 at Walmart. Mildly entertaining movies, but worth the price IMO.

I like the end of the movie where Tara Reid put that forumla in his drink. My mom turned the channel right when that scene was and I haven't watched all of it and I have seen parts. I haven't seen the unrated version but I say BUY IT

Meh. Sorry folks, watched it tonite and this one reeked pretty badly. I'll give Ryan Reynolds (as Van Wilder) credit...the guy is pretty damn funny and has some amazing comic timing.
None the less, horrible story, which seemed aimed towards 7th grade boys. How this can possibly be ranked up their with Animal House (so the DVD box says) is beyond me. Tara Reid also throws in one of the most awful acting performances ever.
So hey, I guess we can see why it is $8
I'll easily get back my money selling it on eBay but for those, like me, wondering...I'd pass on this one. It simply goes nowhere and has many seriously unfunny and somewhat ridiculous scenes. With Reynolds, though, this would've been an even bigger bomb.

True...not sure why I gave it such high praise like that
Reynolds truly is funny in this movie, and deserves more parts in the future. But God, when will Hollywood stop with this "dork from middle Eastern country or nerd with high GPA gets multiple supermodels in bed, overnight" ??
'Cause, ya know, it's 100% realistic.

One of my all-time favorite reviews, here's an excerpt from Roger Ebert's opinion on this film:
The movie is a barfathon that takes full advantage of the apparent MPAA guidelines in which you can do pretty much anything with bodily functions except involve them in healthy sex. The movie contains semen, bare breasts and butts, epic flatulence, bizarre forms of masturbation, public nudity, projectile vomiting and an extended scene of explosive defecation with sound effects that resemble the daily duties of the Port-a-Loo serviceman, in reverse. There are also graphic shots of enormous testicles, which are allowed under the National Geographic loophole, since they belong to Van Wilder's pet bulldog. Presumably the MPAA would not permit this if it had reason to believe there were dogs in the audience.

I thought Van Wilder was somewhat funny, and worth $8. However, I don't think it is comparable to There's Something About Mary because it is a different sort of humor. TSAM is more sarcastic in its tone while Van Wilder goes more for total gross out humor.
