It's ok, but probably my least favorite Coen Bros. movie--for a lot of people, though, it's practically their favorite movie, and it's certainly worth seeing at least once. Also it's cheap. So you may as well pick it up.

Edit: Even though it's not my favorite movie, and even though his part is really small, John Turturo is great in this movie.

I would say it definitely is. One of my favorite movies and definitely my favorite Coen Brothers film. Funny you should ask because I was just watching my copy for the first time last night. I spotted it at a pawn shop for $6 and couldn't pass it up. It has a quirky sense of humor (as you would expect from the Coens) and great performances by Jeff Bridges (who I usually hate), John Goodman and a nifty, little performance by Steve Buscemi. Go for it, you can't go wrong with this one, but then again, my wife hated it and prefers Fargo among the Coens' films, so who knows.

IMO, yes. Personally I probably watch this at least once a month, it's one of those movies that never gets old for me.

Are you asking if this blind buy is for the movie or for the quality of the DVD itself?

I used to think it'd be a good blind buy, then I showed it to a few people and they didn't care for it in the least. *shrug*

The thing about this movie is, many people have to see it more than once to really see it for what it is. If you watch it and don't find it as great as people say, give it some time and watch it again.

With that said, yes, I recommend it as a blind buy.

Definatly worth it. Fun movie. Isn't this one only $9 anyways?

Yes,

the only people who don't like it, or don't "get" it must be spielberg fans..

the movie is brilliant, easily their best film ever, and that's saying a lot.

I picked Lebowski up the other day. It wasn't a particular favorite when I saw it in the theater, but I've been interested in seeing it again and at the cheap $9ish price, how could I resist? I'm guessing that watching it again (and possibly again and again?) I will get into it a bit more.

Very good point and true of many of the movies made by the Coen Brothers.

Yes buy it. It's 10 bucks at Best Buy. You won't regret it. Just put in the DVD with an open mind because its pretty weird the first viewing.

I got it for $10 the other day at Best Buy. Well worth it, many classic scenes in this one.

The DUDE abides!

One of their best, no doubt about it. I've seen it more times than any of their other films, because there's just SO MUCH there to catch.

Remember the big deal a while back when someone noticed the check written by the Dude at Ralph's was dated 9/11?

John Goodman shines as Walter!

Very Zany!

I say definitely pick it up. I got it as a blind buy a few years ago and loved it. The movie poster for it is now framed and on my wall.

Oddly enough, I *love* The Big Lebowski and I am a fan of Steven Spielberg. That must totally blow your mind, eh?

I agree with caiman. This is a movie that grows on you, so even if you don't like it on first viewing, you should consider giving it another shot down the road...you might be surprised.

The movie is hilarious! Also, you better pick it up if you can find it, because it’s out of print and shows no signs of being re-born anytime soon.

I don't think I've seen this argument presented for a while. It's refreshing to see people still embracing the classics.

it's a fun movie...worthy of at least one watch! a good blind buy for myself as well.

btw, has anyone noticed that Universal re-issued this disc recently with the artwork flipped around? wonder why they decided to muck with the artwork. they also re-branded the disc as Region 1, but it is still the same Region ALL polygram disc.

It's one of my favorite movies of all time. It just keeps getting better every time you see it.

Go for it. Worst thing is you don't like it and sell it to some store. You will only pay 10 bucks for the big lebowski, so you wont lose much. And you most likely won't hate it. Its fantastic
