From Hell (SE): Worth Getting??

Just saw a second-hand store selling the 2 disc Special Edition of From Hell. As far as I know, only the one disc version is currently out in most stores.

Can anyone give a review of the film and the 2-disc dvd overall?

Thanks!!!

Here's our full-length review of the film/2-disc "Director's Edition" DVD - http://filmfreakcentral.net/dvdreviews/fromhell.htm

Fox has tentative plans to re-release this set but indeed, for now the 1-disc is all that most stores are carrying.

It's a lovely DVD, but the film has its detractors and I have to say that I was not all that keen on it, contrary to what our critic says in the above-linked review.

I loved the movie, and bought the 2 disc limited edition used at blockbuster. The extra features are pretty much some history on Jack the Ripper... fairly entertaining if you get into the history of the person after watching the movie like i was.

I thought it was stylish, but empty and boring. Not a title I would choose to own. There was quite a bit of discussion about the flick when it was released in the theater and on DVD.

bought the Director's Limited Edition the day it was released and wasn't disappointed. I especially liked the documentaries on the second disc. If you are a fan of thrillers/serial killer movies like I am then get the disc......otherwise skip it.

I see no reason to purchase the 2-disc version for a $ premium. If you can acquire it for the same or less than the single disc version, however, go for it. I found the movie quite enjoyable.

I say its worth it if you like the film but I wouldn't pay much more for the 2 disc. I picked up the 2 disc LE used soon after it was released for around $10. I think it was worth it. I saw the movie in theaters and thought it was pretty good.

I didn't care for the movie. I wholeheartedly recommend the graphic novel.

I bought it as a blind buy. I was kind of disappointed, though. The movie wasn't as good as I had hoped. I haven't gone through all the extras, though, so I can't make a fair comment on them. If you like the movie, however, the SE is probably worth getting.

I liked the movie and was even more surprised when I managed to watch all the extras. Very informative on the Jack the Ripper history.

I thought it was such a great movie when I saw in the theaters that I wrote a research essay over the subject matter (Jack the Ripper) on which I received an A. I would definitely pick it up if I was you.
