Star Trek : The Next Generation

Anyone own any of the TNG series DVDs? I've watched all the episodes on FOX and TNN, but I'm wondering if the sound and video quality of the DVD releases warrents a purchase. I know the very first TNG episodes were kind of weird and not as good as the later ones (sort of like The Simpsons), but I'm eager to buy some seasons of TNG. Any thoughts on these discs? They are pricey, but I loved the series.

Plenty of reviews here: http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews.html as well as at hometheaterforum.com

I own all 7 seasons. 3 of which I haven't watched yet. The PQ and AQ are very satisfactory especially after season 3. I just wish everything Star Trek wasn't so expensive. Companies know there is a die hard following so they feel they can set a high price and still have high sales.

I felt that the first two seasons of the show were rather dodgy and opted to pick up seasons 3-7. I have been thoroughly pleased with everything except the cases the discs came in. The DD 5.1 really takes this series to the next level. The visual quality is fine as well.

The DVD quality is very good. I'd definitely pass on Season 1 (I'm a big fan and even I don't own it). Season 2 is entertaining, but 3 is where it really picks up.

I think all seven seasons are great. I had to have them all. --Edward

If you are just looking for a place to start, Season 3 is it. By far, the best of the lot. Seasons 4 & 5 are good too, but things get soft and silly in 6& 7. Seasons 1 & 2 aren't bad and are better than 6 & 7, IMO.
