Dawson's Creek - to Buy or not to Buy?
I'm undecided. On one hand it's $23. On the other hand, I don't want to buy it just to buy it. I already have planned 22 boxsets and 13 movies for the rest of 2003 (plus whatever is announced) and I'm not into spending money just for the heck of it - I want to be entertained.
Looking at my DVDs (link in signature line), should this be a purchase for me or should I skip it? (ordered includes those that are on the way, those shipping soon, those preordered, and planned purchases that already have a DVDProfiler entry).
Thanks!

Here's our full review - http://filmfreakcentral.net/dvdrevie...onscreeks1.htm
For what it's worth, the first season is the best of them, and so self-contained that you needn't feel bad if you don't continue purchasing subsequent sets. I like the show because I used to be a bit of a Dawson, making movies in high school and whatnot, but I also have a high tolerance for teen fromage--the show is definitely a load of WB falderal.
You can always resell it.

Season One has some great writing. Of course, you won't hear ordinary teenagers spouting out words like the actors, but the show is great in the teen angst department and is very entertaining.
This and season 2 are the only ones a decent person would be interested in. ( to those who still like it)
Worth the 20-30 odd bucks.

I got it yesterday. I really like the show, so I had to have it. Despite the quality f the show itself, the whole video and sound transfer is really really poor, to say the least. Since it took them 5 years to put it on DVD, that was very disappointing.
Here's also a review from DVDfile:

Your day will come (I WAS referring to HTF Ron Epstein). I didn't know your name was Ron too!
Just read your review and I'm looking forward to it. I don't think it will become a favorite like Buffy and X-Files, but I think it will be in my "pretty good" list along the likes of "24" and Sports Night.
You're not the only one that waits for DVD. That's how I first saw Buffy and Angel, most of The X-Files, and I just ordered Friends 1-3 (have never seen an ep) and have MASH waiting for time (never seen an ep). I don't watch TV anymore.

Deb... I also live in NJ (same as HTF Ron). How's that for a coincidence?
Aside from a few shows that I know won't be recieving a DVD release any time soon, I rarely watch TV anymore. For instance, I never saw an episode of '24' until the DVDs came out. Now, I'm hooked. But, I'm willing to wait until September so I can watch the second season on DVD.

I have never come as close as saying I hate a DVD as in this case. Teenagers do not act like that. It's cheesy and you just want to slap them silly a few times.
The one redeeming quality is James Van Der Beek (who, BTW, does -not- look anywhere near 15).

If it helps any, here's a pretty good (if I do say so myself) review of the set that I did. This'll take you to guzzlefish.com and I'm the only one to do a review of it so far, so it shouldn't be hard to find. Just click the hyperlink in my breif summary for a full review that I posted on another board because guzzlefish makes you hack your reviews apart so they aren't big and everytime I tried to post the hacked up version, all the apostrophes were replaced with a lot of numbers and symbols, so I just put a link to the full review. I love the set and that whole first season, btw.
