Hendrik, ever have an opinion of your own?
JDF5244, the movie has a lot of positive qualities, including Robert Downey Jr's performance, but does not quite live up to its potential. It's worth a look, though. I'd rent before purchase.

"Hendrik, ever have an opinion of your own?"
...the original post asked the question: "What about the DVD?" ... I have this movie on LD, and have no desire to "upgrade" to DVD ... I found and provided a link to one review of the DVD --- was that wrong? is that a problem? should I stop doing that? is it even allowable? did I do anything against the 'rules & regulations' of this Forum?
...as for my not ever having "an opinion of my own" - it seems obvious to me that you haven't bothered to read many of my posts... recently I expressed - or inferred - my "opinion" of, e.g., Irréversible (yes! I've seen that movie!), I Am Curious - Blue and I Am Curious - Yellow (Yes! being the ancient codger among all the sprightly young whippersnappers that visit this Forum I actually saw both movies decades ago, when they were 'new' and 'hot' - they were tacky movies then - imnsho, of course! - and, unlike some wines, they will not have improved with age - CRITERION release notwithstanding!), Scarlet Diva (Yes! I've watched the French DVD and No! I was not impressed with Ms. Argento's cinéma-quasi-vérité! if that's a sin, don't expect me to apologize)...

Allright, Hendrik, time to cool down. Didn't mean to get you agitated. It was just an off-the-cuff remark.
There is of course nothing wrong with pointing others to reviews you have read. It just seems like, at least recently, you have favored doing that over just answering a question with your own opinion.
Well, see, that's the thing. It seems like your opinions are more inferred than expressed. By pointing to five different reviewers that didn't like a movie, we are to infer that you didn't like it either.
Listen, that's fine. To each their own. That's your style. That's fine. Sorry I said anything.
