I caught Horror Of Dracula on the big screen a few months ago at a film festival. Great Hammer stuff....

I am a bit cocerned about the aspect ratio issue.

It sounds like the film (and the other two Hammers from Warner, Mummy and Curse of Frankenstein) are being over-matted to accomodate the 16:9 ratio.

These films should be properly shown at 1.66:1, so we're losing some information that we should be seeing. I really wish they would've put both full-frame and (over-matted) widescreen versions on the discs. It's not like there any extras to be found on them, anyway. I would rather watch a version with too much information at the top and bottom, than one with too little.

This is disappointing.

I think the whole 16:9 thing has become a marketing tool - especially on older films - with its actual effect on the film almost secondary.

I guess DVDFile.com likes to trash Hammer Films.
