I haven't seen the DVD, but I have the VHS from ten or so years ago. So I can't comment on the DVD specifics, like the video transfer and the audio.
It's a great performance, and a nicely produced live concert. It's a must-own if you're a Queensryche fan, and still an essential part of any progressive-metal fan's library.
The concert is the band performing the entire "Operation Mindcrime" album (which is an excellent album, btw) in order. It's a concept album, with a definite storyline running through the songs.
I plan on picking this up eventually.

I had it on video when it first came out, and I got the DVD when it came out too. I don't have a high end system, but to me the video looked great and the sound was great too, but it seemed to be more like stereo from all the speakers instead of using the surrounds like a real 5.1 sound would be.. but it still looks and sounds great. If you're a Queensryche fan, Livecrime is a must-have. It's the band in their prime playing their best album ever
I mean, they're still great now but Livecrime rocks. I didn't get the Live Evolution DVD yet though so I can't compare it to that

I agree with all above. It's a great DVD if you're a fan of the band (heck, it's interesting to watch even if you aren't). The DVD cuts between only performance, performance+video screens behind the band, and video screens only.
Similar to the Dream Theater DVD in presentation, but performed in a much larger venue.
Wish all concerts were this good. I'm a big fan of various bands, not just Queensryche, but this is easily one of the best concerts I've ever seen in my life. Glad they were able to capture one of the concerts from this particular tour on video. I doubt they'd ever do this album again in its entirety from start to finish.
BTW - For those familiar with the concert or album, you know the reason for the video screens - they help convey the "Mindcrime" story and cast of characters from beginning to end.
A terrific buy, IMHO. You won't be disappointed. I practically wore out my videotape, so I'm thrilled to have the DVD.

While it is a good DVD, it has a lot of unskippable crap at the beginning. And no, it is not animorphic, let alone widescreen. It is 4X3. But you can create fake widescreen if you can get into service mode on your TV.
And I think the strobe effect on the video that they have throughout the whole concert is really annoying. If it were for one song, then maybe it might be cool, but for the whole concert, for me it's just hard on the eyes and makes me inexplicably mad. But still a cool concert.
