Reviews Wanted: Hellraiser Films

This may be a very demanding job, but I would like to know how many reviews there are of all the Hellraiser films that are on DVD.

For those who can provide the reviews, thank you.

...well... here's a start, anyway...

Hellraiser - - - Hellraiser II - - - Hellraiser: Bloodline - - - Hellraiser: Inferno

...you will also find reviews on this very site...

You want to know the movie quality or the DVD quality? As far as the movies go, the first one is great, the second one decent but not nearly as good, and the rest slide downhill into a steaming pile of crap, each worse than the last.

Get the LE Tin from Anchor Bay if you can still find it. It includes Hellraiser 1 SE and Hellbound: Hellraiser 2 SE. The SE of HR 1 is available seperately but HR 2 is not available in SE form seperately. The picture quality is quite nice, 1.85:1 anamorphic, good 5.1 sound, audio commentaries for both movies, as well as a featurette on each and some trailers. Cool menus too. Definitely get the tin if you can find it still.

Here's the lowdown -- "Hellraiser" and "Hellbound: Hellraiser 2" are both available in THX SEs from Anchor Bay. They're good discs, with good A/V quality and good supplements. If you like the films, they're worht having. They were originally released as a "tin" from AB last year, but it doesn't really offer anything, save for the tin and a sparse booklet, that the regular editions don't.

"Hellraiser 3" isn't available in the USA yet (pester Paramount about that). There is a Canadian budget-priced one floating around somewhere. I haven't seen it, but I know that it's fullframe.

"Hellraiser 4" and "Hellraiser 5" are available from Buena Vista. "Hellraiser 4" has no extras at all, not even a trailer. (I would love to have a proper director's cut of this.) The image is non-enhanced widescreen, and the picture quality is rather poor. "Hellraiser 5" has a better picture (enhanced widescreen) and a few brief "behind-the-scenes" things, but nothing to get too excited about.

This is not true. The SE of Hellraiser 2 has been available separately for over a year now.

clappj,
I stand corrected. I wasn't aware that the SE of part 2 was eventually released seperately.

I have the Canadian edition of Hellraiser III. I found myself really liking this dvd, except it is in pan and scan with no features. Still worth the 8.99 Canadian I paid for it.

Well I am in the market for the Hellraiser series and I see that this post is very old. I could not find a more recent post about this movie series.

Could you guys point me to the best versions of each of these? From what I can tell, I need the THX Spec Ed of Hellraiser I and II. Are there other Hellraiser 1 and 2 with THX that are not Special Editions? The reason I ask is that DDD has HR1 with THX but it doesn't say SE.

What about Hellraiser 4 thru 6?

ALso, where is Hellraiser 3?

Thanx!

Yep, you have to be a pretty hardcore fan to stick with it after Part 3.

I liked the first two but want to have a complete collection. Looks like several of these can be had on ebay or other places for about $10 each.
