Review of Star Trek TNG Season 1?
Do any websites have a review of the Star Trek TNG Season 1 set up yet? The set comes out in about three weeks, so it seems reasonable that someone should have an advance copy...

It's a Paramount title. A) They rarely get out their DVDs more than two weeks early, and B) Even if they do so, they forbid posting of reviews more than 10 days pre-street. As such, don't expect to see anything about ST:TNG until a week from Friday at the EARLIEST...

The last Star Trek TOS(#40) have a promo for the Star Trek NG 1st year DVD set.
I'm sure the quality is going to be better in the NG DVD set than it was in the promo. The promo look a little better than a VHS tape.
But it did get me very excited about the NG set. The extras look to be awesome. The enterviews with the cast members are going to be fun!

The review discs went out last week with a note forbidding pre-release reviews until March 15. But, because the DVDs did go out well in advance, I imagine reviews will be up first thing Friday on most sites.

Well the rviewer on the first one sort of Pan's the set on the strength of it's extras. My bechmark will be the picture and the sound quality and from what I've read it's top notch. The rest is gravy. Sure A Patrick stewart commentary would've been nice, as would have a denise crosby on her last ep,, but it all comes down to picture and sound for me, and it looks like Paramount has delivered the goods

I saw a couple episodes and I thought the picture was a bit soft and skintones were a bit questionable in parts. Havent finished the set but i was a bit disapointed.

I am enjoying TNG season 1 on DVD. Obviously, it could be better -- they could have included the episode previews at a bare minimum -- but what is here is pretty good. The extras are fun, albeit nothing new. But picture quality, sound and packaging are all worthwhile; make me sufficiently satisified I upgraded from VHS. Paramount is clearly copying the X-Files box sets, and while they haven't matched those in terms of extras, etc., I'll be happy to have 7 TNG seasons in this format.
Keeping fingers crossed for 7 DS9 seasons in 2003.

Looking at the pics in the HTF review, I have to say that that's the cheesiest packaging I've yet seen for a boxed set. It looks like something cheap cologne would come in. It's fine if it's just something you're going to toss into the trash, but it's really sort of unacceptable for a DVD set you're going to be paying $100.00 for.
I would've gladly paid an extra $10 for the swanky plastic containers the folks in R2 got. I'll have to pass on this set.
