Saw this over a year ago. This is a modern movie and the DVD came out about 6 months after the movie, so the transfer and sound are all as good as we expect new movie releases to be.

I can't speak to edge enhancement or those type of defects, but I thought the picture was more than ok.

The special features included a decent commentary and a few more things I can't remember off the top of my head, but overall, as far as picture, sound and features go, this was a fairly priced DVD.

The movie itself is a slightly different matter. While it was fairly true to the book, the book itself was a "summer suspense" quality novel and while good, not particularly outstanding. Which is a good description of the movie.

I suggest renting this first unless you are really big Travolta fan.

Stay away from this one. For military/legal dramas, stick with the likes of A Few Good Men and Courage Under Fire.

Actually, I think this one was pretty good. I liked the story, it has some interesting psychological twists. I cannot compare with Few Good Men, since the theme is different, even though it is in a military setting. I give it 7/10.

I also wouldn't compare it to A Few Good Men since that is really courtroom drama and the other is more suspense thriller, each is a whodunnit. I thought it was pretty good. It does have a fairly graphic rape scene which some may find disturbing. I picked it up used and it was worth the price I paid.

I have this DVD in my collection and give this two thumbs up. I like the story
because it's about BETRAYAL.
Spoiler:
A father's betrayal at her daughter's expense.

He was willing to forego his daughter' trauma & suffering because of his own
selfishness :" Daddy loves you and he's so proud of you. Try not to think about
it anymore. I only want what's best for you.Trust me. Then don't
ever think about any of this again. It never happened. None of
this ever happened !"

One could see the shock in the daughter's eyes as her father spoke those words.
Her expression was one of total disbelief.

The picture transfer is good and the audio DD 5.1 soundtrack is excellent. No regrets
on having this DVD.

That's the movie's biggest plot twist, so I spoilered it, as I don't think the person asking for the review has seen it yet.

thanks Blake...that would ruin it for anyone who hasn't seen the movie. I still remember the first time I saw it.

Oops ! Guess I got carried away by revealing the plot inadvertantly.
