In the Mood for Love (Criterion)

Just saw a portion of Criterion's In the Mood for Love (if I didn't have to go back to work, I would be spending the whole afternoon perusing through this 2-disc set!!).

Since I don't really have a high-end entertainment system, I'll keep it simple.

Video is just incredible!!! Very sharp and really catches every shade and color of the film without any bleeding or pixelization. Audio is also exceptional (includes music only option!!).

Tons of extras which includes an almost hour's worth of behind-the scenes (fm conception to its marketing), press conference in Toronto Film Festival (both leads speak flawless English) & deleted scenes.

Cheers to Criterion for pulling out all stops to make this 2-disc set a must-own!!!

I agree, this is an amazing package. I've just seen it and images keep replaying in my mind. I really like the soundtrack, particularly the Brian Ferry version of "In the Mood for Love" that is used in the trailers. Great great stuff.

Now that this thread was "resurrected" recently, I would like to express total anticipation in watching Wong Kar Wai's 2046.

I can say that that Tony Leung must be one of the most prolific and talented actors around. And with a number of high profile actors who have lent their skills for Wong Kar Wai's latest film (Tony Leung, Maggie Cheung, Gong Li, Zhang Zi-Yi and Takuya Kimura), this must be a masterpiece.

In the Mood for Love

Just wanted to chime in on this resurrected thread as I finally picked up a copy of In the Mood for Love during the recent 20% off deal at DeepDiscountDVD.com. I've loved the film for a while now ever since the first time I saw it and I can't wait to see it again along with all the special features when my copy arrives.

Highly recommended to those who haven't seen it. IMO, if you were one of the one's who found Lost in Translation to be a masterpiece, as I did, then you have a good chance of liking In the Mood for Love. Like LiT, this movie makes good use of the score and track selection. "Yumiji's Theme" and "Angkor Wat Theme" are a couple of the most beautifully melancholy pieces I've heard in any movie.

I consider Tony Leung to be one of the best actors of our time. Highly enjoyable to watch, it is no wonder why Wong Kar Wai has featured Tony in so many of his films. Maggie Cheung is amazing as well and does her part to help turn Wong Kar Wai's works into masterpieces.

Ergh. . .is DeepDiscountDvd trustworthy?

In the past all I've used is Amazon. . .I always hear one bad thing about other online sites and I get scared away easily.

I've ordered from them about 20 times in the last two years and have never had a problem. Free shipping takes about 10 business days (to San Diego anyway) so be warned.

I've used them to order most of my Zatoichi films, got a few box sets from them & a Criterion here & there. I've never had a problem with them. Free shipping, to N.J. it usualy takes about 5-7 business days. I think they are great.

This movie should be a must own in every film lovers collection.
