The Films of Anh Hung Tran... Reviewed
I was fortunate enough to have the time to watch all three of Vietnamese director Anh Hung Tran's films on DVD last Friday night. The Scent of Green Papaya, Cyclo and The Vertical Ray of the Sun, each one is magnificent.
I have garphically reviewed The Scent of Green Papaya which you may access by CLICKING HERE .
I also penned a review of The Vertical Ray of the Sun - HERE.
I don't plan on revieweing Cyclo as Pascal has done such a good commentary on his own Strictly Film School website. HERE
I make a comparison in one of my reviews to Robert Bresson... I was floored by these films and can't wait for Trans next offering. Hopefully including his beautiful wife, Tran Nu Yen-Khe, as well
Any other opinions on any of these three films ?
P.S. As my reviews also include comments and captures on the DVD I will cross-post it there as well.
Cheers

Here is mine of Vertical Ray of the Sun...

Having seen all of his films, I was most impressed with Scent of Green Papaya, less so with Cyclo, and Vertical Ray falls somewhere in the middle. Definitely a film maker to keep an eye on, though.
... and yes, I made a Bresson comparison too!
