Review: The Brother
Rented this last night, popped it in and sat down for what seemed like 62 hours. This movie's tone is sound asleep. Someone thought the silence of Zen would combine well with Yakuza, Mafia and street thugs. Everyone stands around making profound faces and saying absolutely nothing. Not to mention the screenplay is pretty dumb, makes little to no sense and takes forever in telling its stupid story. The most bizarre aspect of this film is the score, my god whoever is responsible make sure they never work in film again. The score is a soft and warm light jazz thingy that is trying so hard to be sophiscated and cool. It is laughable in this film. * out of *****
Beat Takeshi has great facial ticks and seems to be suffering from Bells Palsey as only his right eye blinks. Beat, if you can hear me, better stay in Japan. Hollywood doesn't have a clue of what to do with you.
Rent, do not buy this mess of a movie. You have been warned.
