Review wanted: Nixon

Worth it? Is there a new Oliver Stone Collection version? (I think there is, can't recall....). Anyone own it?

FWIW, I've read that there's a new SE version being worked on. I haven't purchased it yet myself for that very reason.

I don't know if you've seen the movie put it's truly extraordinary. I think it's better than JFK by quite a bit and certainly one of Stone's best 3 films, though it's one of his least praised for some reason. Anthony Hopkins is a revelation as Nixon.

Special Edition??

I've seen the film, and really enjoy it. I was about to purchase the Oliver Stone Collection of the movie, but now that you say there's a SE coming, maybe I'll wait.

Where did you hear this?

Actually there are 2 versions of the film.

1) 1 Disc, Movie only Edition, which seems to be more and more scarce. This disc is avilable as a stand alone purchase.

2) 2 Disc Set, Oliver Stone Collection release, which is currently only available if you buy the 10 Movie Oliver Stone Collection, the 6 Movie Collection doesn't contain the Nixon movie.

They were to relaese the 2 disc set as a standalone about a year ago, but extended the realease date indefinately, until they got all of the 1 disc set sold. I presume once they are out of circulation you will see a release of the 2 disc set as a stand alone. I will be inline when that day comes.
