I liked the movie just got a couple of Q's about the dvd:

Are there 2 versions? SE & bare?

What kind of features are on the disc?

I'm seriously thinking about grabbin this one as a commitment ch @ $19.95. ...not really sure if it's the SE since it doesn't mention it.

Thanks!

I bought the SE version & love it! I'm a Hitchcock fan, so this was a must have for me.

Not sure of the existance of a bare-bones (non SE version).

Video transfer is excellent, audio is 5.1 & is not heavily used. Mainly background usage (traffic sounds, etc.)

Not a lot of Features, but here they are:

* Standard & Widescreen
* 5.1 DD
* Alternate unused ending (cool)
* 2 feature-length commentaries by Michael Douglas, the Director, Producer, Screenwriter & others (my fav extra)

My 2 cents

I'm pretty sure there's only one version out there. You might want to look around the exchange forum though. For awhile this one was given out as part of the 5 free w/ player and not everyone wanted/liked it. You might be able to get it cheap from someone and use your selection on something else.

A Perfect DVD...

Warner Bros. disc for A PERFECT MURDER is
damn near stellar. Yes, THERE IS ONLY ONE VERSION,
the SE, and it is truly a wonderful disc.

The 5.1 surround is used effectively, and not overdone.
THE FUGITIVE'S director, ANDREW DAVIS, makes us jump
when the mood is just right, and the Warner disc captures
all the thrills and chills superbly.

The 2 audio commentaries, alternate endings and story
background all roundout this disc perfectly.

A MUST OWN!

One version as far as I know. There should be tons of used copies floating around. I personally didn't take to this movie although the DVD is excellent. It didn't offer one main character that was the least bit likeable. It opens with her being a cheatin wench, and gets worse from there. Made me feel like they should all rot in hell. No one to root for.

I loved this movie. Michael Douglas was outstanding.
The transfer was excellent, and the sound was excellent as well. Be sure to watch the alternate ending after you watch the movie.

For those of us who have seen the movie and not the alternate ending, can you elaborate on it (with spoiler tags, of course).

Spoiler Alert

I thought the alternate was better. As I remember she sets him up and shoots him, when he says she'll never get away with it, she slams her head into the cutting board to claim self defense. In the ending scene with the detective you can see the injury that is never explained and his understanding of what happened.
