This Paul Schrader film was recently released on DVD, and I was wondering if anyone has anyone seen it yet. I'm looking for a review of the film as well as the transfer and extras.

...the reviews (of the movie only) don't sound at all appetizing...

I just got my copy on Friday; I'll watch it tonight and post my thoughts. BTW, I pre-ordered the disc after reading that a Schrader commentary was among the features (it is possibly the sole feature, I don't have the disc nearby). After reading Schrader on Schrader and listening to the Blue Collar commentary, I can't wait to hear what he has to say about Forever Mine, regardless of the quality of the film.

I know that the reviews weren't very great, but the positive ones that I read were enough to interest me. Plus, even though Paul Schrader isn't the most consistent of filmmakers, his work is usually worth checking out.
I'm glad to hear that there is a commentary. I didn't see it listed as a feature at Amazon, but I thought that it was listed when the disc was up for preorder.

Update: I haven't finished listening to the Schrader commentary yet, but I wasn't fond of the film itself. Forever Mine was something of a homage to several of Schrader's influences, including Douglas Sirk, and it just didn't work, largely because of the screenplay (Schrader's worst, in my opinion), and partly because of the casting. (Joseph Fiennes was okay, but Gretchen Mol wasn't the most inspired choice for a leading lady. Of the three major players, Ray Liotta emerged the strongest. He had the most concrete character, as well.)
The transfer was sub-par, though its possible that the grain can be attributed to mishandled source material (given the film's lengthy journey through a botched distribution deal, it wouldn't be surprising). Some of the outdoor scenes also suffer from softness. The stereo soundtrack, on the other hand, is adequate, though nothing to write home about.
Bottom line: Fans of the filmmaker will probably want to see it out of curiosity, and, as usual, I'd recommend renting before buying.
http://www.filmfreakcentral.net recently reviewed the DVD, BTW, and they talk more about the commentary (which is the only feature).
