I haven't compaired them myself, but the other day a friend was telling me about it.. and ...
But.. like I said I haven't seen the new one so I can't really compair the 2, but acording to my friend, that was why they the first is OOP and there's a new version

I have both versions of Devil's Advocate (OOP vhs w/ unaltered scenes and current dvd w/ digital modifications). In my opinion, you are NOT missing out anything; if I were you, I would save money buying the current dvd instead of OOP dvd.
Hope this helps.

DVD Talk Legend
Well the difference is, that in the scenes where the statue is just in the backgroud, the people in the statue were altered out of it, so instead of all the people, all you see is swirls and stuff.. it's nothing major, but when you have both DVDs and you compare the 2, it's a noticalbe differece! But, it's all in the background so.. it doesn't affect anything and the scene in the end where it moves is the same. If I had a PC DVD player I'd take shots.

Can you tell from the box which is which?
I was tempted to purchase a copy of Devil's Advocate I saw recently because I remembered something about these 2 versions; my question is, is there any way to tell from the box which version you are buying? Does one have extra text or something? I searched for Devil's Advocate on all forums here but didn't find this info. Thanks in advance.

OtterPops, the oop version has a long red box on the back towards the bottom with the following text. " The large white sculpture of human forms on the wall of John Milton's penthouse in Devil's Advocate is not connected in any way and was not endorsed by the sculptor Frederick Hart... and so on. I also believe the number on the spine should be 15090. Good luck finding it. I found my copy last summer at a Blockbuster so you might try there.

From: Right now, my location is DVDTalk, but then again, you should already know that, shouldn't you?
Additionally, the UPC code on the back of the old, unedited version is 085391509028, whereas the new, edited version's UPC is 085391617228.
