If you want a review of the film itself, it is not very good. Though I didn't like any of the Mad Max films all that much, I thought The Road Warrior was the best. Beyond Thunderdome had some points, though Tina Turner single handedly killed the movie
. The disc itself is not all that great. The picture is okay, I remember some artifacting when I saw it, though it was a fair amount of time ago, so I don't remember much of it. As for the sound, I don't have a surround hookup, so that is a moot point. The extras are all but non-existent: some production notes, cast and crew, trailer. That is all. I wouldn't buy the film, though if you just want to see it, rent it.

Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome is a decent film, but not in the same relm as The Road Warrior. The DVD widescreen transfer looks very good overall, with vivid colors(although some seem to be a bit off). I have never watched the full frame version on the disk, so I can't comment. I wouldn't say this is sharp and detailed transfer, just a bit above average. The audio track is Dolby Digital 5.1, although all the channels don't seem to be used consistantly. The score and sound effects come through well, without trampling the dialogue. The extras leave something to be desired, with just the trailer and production notes. Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome out of five stars:
