I finally viewed this movie for the first time, and was quite impressed with it. I've only been through disk one so far, but the movie almost blew me away. I forgot how great a director Spike Lee was.

I thought this movie was excellent. It was story-telling at its finest. Personally, I can't see many flaws with this film, and every film, no matter how good, has its flaws. Highly recommended for everyone who has not seen it.

I love this movie so much. Apparently Criterion feels the same way because they put out such amazing laserdisc of it (for which I paid about $100 at the time) and now this outstanding DVD. In the last couple decades there are very very few films that stack up in terms of writing, acting, pacing, drama, humor, emotion, complexity, and realness.
If you liked the movie you should definitely read Lee's book on the making of it. It's one of my film book touchstones along with the Hitchcock/Truffaut book, a book I read over and over again.

Definitely one of the best films of the 80's if not all-time. A masterpiece of mood, place, and character. The supplements are excellent. My favorite is the video of the first reading of the script, where each actor introduces him/herself and what they have previously worked on. Very cool. Criterion should be congratulated for a superior DVD.

I have a new appreciation for this movie after watching Criterion's Super Deluxe Mother of All Special Editions version on DVD. This edition has, dare I say it, the best extras I've seen (in my own limited experience).
