In "Matrix 6.1" the rear center is derived from the rear surrounds much like Dolby Pro Logic does for its surrounds.
In "Discrete 6.1" the rear center is processed seperately and is its own channel much like Dolby Digital surrounds.
Example products:
Outlaw receiver has "Matrix 6.1"
Denon 3801/4800/5800 have "Discrete 6.1"
