I am getting ready to purchase my first DVD player and need some knowledgable assistance. I have narrowed the search down to the Sony 360 and Sony 560 at this point. I am currently using an older Pioneer Dolby Pro Logic receiver at this time. I am not planning on upgrading that in the near future. Will the additional features on the Sony 560 work with my receiver and is it worth the additional $50 ? Any and all help is appreciated.

If you're not intending to upgrade to a Dolby Digital Receiver(which I can't see why you wouldn't want to), I'd say stay with the 360. I have a 550D, and I love it, but I don't think the 560 would be worth your while.
Just MHO.

360

No point in buying the 560... Won't make a bit of difference with a Pro Logic receiver.

You really should check into a DD/DTS receiver though if you have the cash to spare... Night and day... Pro Logic is pretty much suck once you've heard DD/DTS.

Here's a good question: is your receiver Dolby-Digital ready (i.e., does it have 6-channel inputs)? If it does, then you should buy the 560, because you can connect the six analog outputs on the back of the DVD player to your receiver and get Dolby Digital sound. If not, then you should buy the 360, because a built-in decoder won't do you any good.
Can you check the receiver or give us the model number to confirm?

Model number

Thanks for all the replies... The model number is Pioneer VSX-D503S. It says that is a Digital Signal Processor and Dolby Surround Pro-logic. Does that help ?
