I ordered the SA-WM-40 from a sony dealer and was told it is on backorder until end of May.
Anybody know anywhere in Southern Ontario where I an get one?
I don't want to wait, so suggestions on other low-price subs would be welcome.
I was thinking PSB or Paradigm.
Thanks

Did you try The Brick or Sears?
I got mine at The Brick in Brampton. Sears in the Bramalea City Centre had them too.
793-9417 is the number for customer service at the BCC you can get Sears number from them.

Good Luck.

I paid 369.99 plus tax
I wouldn't go through a US retailer for something this big. The price would be okay, but then add the shipping, taxes, and duty. You might save a few dollars but you'll have to wait. Not to mention do you trust the people actually shipping your sub? And it's a lot harder to get warrenty work done if you bought it from the US. I found this the hard way on my Panasonic CD deck I bought for my car on ebay.
I guess supply and demand is taking over, I saw that the brick had the price for 399.99. But both The Brick and Sears price match. I bought mine a little over 6 weeks ago.
Even for 399.99 this sub is worth it, it rocks like no tomorrow.

I had previously checked on Best Buy and the price was $315 Cdn. ($200 US).
I'm sure I would have to wait for delivery however and there is that warranty issue.

there is a canadian e-tailer who has that sub for cheaper, problem is, i dont know who it is.
you may want to do a search on this forum for threads on this sub.
search by forum member name : xcheckers or checkers or chess, i forget who made the original post.
also search keyword: sony sub
the date of his post was back in january, but it is always updated. it must be 7 pages long by now.
all of the deals for this sub were posted on there, including, from what i remember, canadian deals.
this sub is worth under $300 canadian dollars, but not a dime over that. it is a good sub for the money, but you get what you pay for. if you are going to spend more then that you can probably get the mission sub, which is much better, for under $500 canadian.

I checked the Brick in Burlington, but they didn't have any Sony's, I will try Sears on the weekend.
Called Kromer and it is the Paradigm PDR 8, I think I would go for at PDR 10 at the minimum.
I am going to check out the D-box at Costco. I have checked a few reviews and it seems to be worth a look. 12" woofer. At least with Costco, I can try it at home and return it with no hassle if I don't like it.

Iyah, were you able to find a subwoofer? A friend of mine might have one for sale.
It's a Paradigm 12". But it's not powered. It's too loud for my friends basement appartment and he might want to let it go.

Thanks for the info Raptorsfan, but I have decided on a powered sub.
I picked up the D-box David 301 at Costco on the weekend and am "auditioning it".
Huge sucker and sometimes overpowering but just moved it to the corner of the room last night which I guess should be the best spot for it.
It is tough to evaluate since I have never had a sub before. I figure I will listen to this in my house and test the others in the store for comparison.
Have you heard anything about this sub? It got a decent writeup a while ago, but I do not put a lot of faith in these reviews.
