I bought a 27" Philips Magnavox TP2785 back in Dec. and right outta the box i thought there was a problem witht he vertical as ESPN, ESPN 2 ticker and a local channels 6 o'clock news captions at the bottom of the screen cuts off the first letter or two depending on the size. What I usually get is on the ticker is BA(nba),FL(nfl),LB(mlb) or part of CAA(ncaa. I saw this on a friends 19" and didn't think nothing of it, until I bought a DVD that had THX optimode test. I ran that and where you see the 2 rectangular boxes and the circle, the boxes are pushed to the left and down to the point you dont see the outer boxes bottom left corner, and barely the same inner left corner. Since there aren't any horizontal/vertical adjustments any fixes for it? I called Philips 800 service number and they referred me to a local repair man, I have 2 day left on the inital 90 day warranty but I must show my sales receipt which I have turned my place upside down for. My luck I put it in the box when i threw it away.

You can adjust the overscan in the service menu, but it is a risky proposition. If at all possible, get the repairman to do it. Otherwise, you can search the Net and find sites that tell you how to access the service menu and adjust the parameters.
