I am in the process of building a house. In this house will be a dedicated media room. I hesitate to call it a home theater because we're not going to have theater seats, rope light, pillars, and curtains that are so common in all the A/V shops.
I do intend to install a CRT projector. The choice of projector will be primarily dictated by my budget, but I will do my best. However, it occurs to me that the screen is equally as important. A good screen may compensate somewhat for a mediocre projector.
I have complete control over ambient light in my media room since it has no windows. I intend to get a fixed wall screen because this is a single purpose room.
I've looked at a few companies; Stewart, Draper, Da-Lite, and Vutec. I am inclined to get a Stewart Luxus ScreenWall with Videomatte 200 fabric and a 1.85:1 aspect ratio of 60" X 111". Is this a good choice? Is there a better bang for the buck elsewhere?
Price is a consideration, but as I am a DVD junkie, not the primary consideration. If I shell out $800 on a bad screen, that is $800 wasted.
And finally, where is a good online source to purchase projection screens?
Thanks for your help.
