Hi,
I have a Sony STR-DE845 reciever (dts built in) a Sony player (couple years old when they had dual optics on the lower end) that is Dts ready. I have a Boston Acoustics System 9000. I can't seem to get the DTS light on my reciever to come on, thus I don't think that I am hearing it. I go to audio options in the dvd and turn it to dts, but still nothing? I'm using an optical cable not coax.
I want to try it to see which I like better but I'm having no luck at all.
Thanks
Dan

Are you positive your DVD player is DTS output capable? What model is it?
My Sony player is just a little older and does not have DTS capability.
It seems like you are doing everything right. Were you able to get DD 5.1 before?

What model sony dvd player is it? If it is a DVP-300 or 500 it does not have DTS ability. Everything after those do (I think). There may be a menu item on the player itself to turn this on. May want to check that.

I have the Sony db930 and to get the DTS light on you have to have a DTS DVD playing. You might also have to go to the audio setup of the DVD menu and choose DTS as your sound choice. My receiver also has a big blue light that comes on for multi channel (5.1) discs. If it is not on and you have a 5.1 DVD playing hit the A.F.D. button on the receiver.

I feel stupid, I have a player in my room that is DTS, however the one I previously mentioned was not as some of you suspected. Thanks for the help though, I guess I won't be able to make a decision on DTS unless I swap my players! But I don't want to throw my Panasonic into a Sony setup. Sure, call me picky, but something about seeing the same little logo on all of my equipment gives me satisfaction.

Sometimes I find that I deliberately make sure that NONE of my home theater components match. For example, I have a Sony TV, a Denon receiver, a Toshiba DVD player, a JVC VCR and a set of Paradigm speakers.

Matching logos. Now, why didn't I think of that? I went with sound perference.
Seriously, why don't you swap DVD's as test, then at least you'll know what you're missing or not missing...

Dude, swap players. It's not gonna make your stuff sound any better if it is all Sony (especially if you are using sony speakers!). Try it out, you'll like it.
