Does anyone have any information and/or specs for 12V trigger circuits? I'm trying to build a circuit that operates off of the 12V trigger output of my pre-pro and switches some other devices. Circuits or links to web-sites also appreciated. Thanks.

from what i'm understanding, you could just go buy a 12V relay and solder the input to the coil and whatever you want switched to the other side of the relay.

just make sure your input can source enough current to switch the realy. you may need a transistor.

can you tell i'm about to graduate as an EE?

I'm not sure you can do that. There has to be a limit on the amount of current the trigger output can supply. That's what I'm trying to determine. I'm already using the output to control the power amp.
I was thinking of using a transistor too, but I was wondering if there was a more elegant solution. Thanks for your input.

asabase I'm not trying to bust your chops, but I got my MSEE in 1983. -

If you don't have enough current to switch the relay, use a line driver chip (sometimes called a buffer). I forget the number. Or use a 2n2222 transistor (or any really) and wire it up as the positive side of a class B amplifier with the coil as the load. That will keep your current down to a few mA. Just be sure your base and C-E voltage are about the same or the transistor won't turn on all the way.
