I just foun out that Apple has released, or soon will, its widescreen notebook computer. I am not an Apple user and do not inbten to become one. I was wondering if anyone knew any information as to when other computer makers are going to put out a widescreen notebook??

Don't really know but it's only a matter of time before someone else does.

Actually Sony already has a tiny portable with a widescreen ratio but is is pretty small. Don't remember it's name but it's part of the Vaio laptop series.

Yeah, Apple already released their Titanium PowerBook G4 notebook computers. For a non-Mac user, I was actually very impressed with this system. I tried one out at my local CompUSA, and if I had the money to throw around, I would pick one up.

You can read more about the Titanium PowerBook here.

Personally, I believe that the Apple TiPB is the best portable computer ever brought to market - the most powerful by far, and the most suited for high-end OSs (meaning Unix family distributions: Linux, a Unix derivative; and Mac OS X, a Unix decendent)...

That said, it is not a 16:9 display. It is the widest aspect ratio I am aware of on a laptop, but it is 3:2. Also it is definitely out, as they are in heavy use in film production right now... Saturday night I saw one controlling all of the audio and lighting cues on a filmed sitcom shoot over at Disney, and I know of folks running Avid setups in the field on the new TiPB, and controlling Arri film cameras. Then of course, there's the production offices filled with iBooks and older G3 laptops.
