I'm thinking about getting a new receiver. I'd like 6 or 7 channels of power to do DTS ES and Dolby Digital EX. 6 optical inputs (DVD, Satalite, PS2, CD, MD & an extra one for later) component video switching with 3 inputs. I currently have a Sony DA-555ES and am quite happy with it, but it dosen't have component video switiching and only has 4 optical inputs.

If the Component switching is going to be for High Definition sources then you have only two current choices (Denon's 5800 & Onkyo's Flagship receiver) These two receivers are the only ones with a high enough bandwidth (within the Component switching electronics)to support a High Definition signal. If you want the Component switching for DVD's then there are a lot of newer receivers supporting this including Sony's SRT-V555ES *which I own and have been very pleased with).

From your requirements list, the Onkyo 989 (flagship as mentioned above) is the only receiver I've seen with all those. It has a hefty $3000 price tag, but it is definitely a force to be reckoned with.
